Squires Elementary School Renovation/Addition

Lexington, Kentucky

The renovation of Squires Elementary School involved a total renovation of 51,831 square feet and an addition of 18,257 square feet.  All existing MEP systems were removed and replaced.  The building was fully occupied during the construction effort, which was split into three construction phases.  One of the main challenges was to maintain the existing MEP systems in the existing portions of the building while constructing the new systems in the new/renovated areas of the building.  Staggs & Fisher addressed this challenge by minimizing required temporary facilities through careful examination of the existing systems and recommendations for construction sequencing and new systems that would aid in a “modular” approach to the construction.
