Patterson Hall Upgrade/Renovate Academic Space - University of Kentucky

Lexington, Kentucky

The historic Patterson Hall opened in 1904 as the first women’s dormitory, authorized to be “off campus” and away from male students. The intent of this project was to restore Patterson Hall to be close to its original appearance.  Finishes were uncovered and restored to original finishes or finishes appropriate for the time of the building’s construction.  Demising walls between dorm rooms were removed to create meeting rooms, group study rooms, and small classrooms.  The Main Hall was restored and will be used as a ball room and a large group meeting space.  Apartments were added within a secured space on the top floor to accommodate visiting professors and their families.
